Hiking near Cinque Terre: trails to avoid the crowds
Directions to Monte Belvedere
If you are looking for a peaceful nature walk close to the UNESCO-listed Cinque Terre, the Monte Belvedere trail is a wonderful alternative away from the busiest tourist routes.
The trail starts directly in front of the Cuccaro Club, in the hotel car park.
Facing the pine forest, take the paved road on your left. Follow it between the houses, heading towards the garden and swimming pool area.
After approximately 400 metres, you will see our donkey enclosure on your right. Use the small wooden stile to cross the fence and, if you wish, stop for a moment to say hello to the donkeys and give them a little bread!
Continue into the pine forest. The path climbs gently towards the left: follow the signs for “Casoni” and the read and white sign.
Cross it, you continue through the pine forest always following indications for * CASONI*Cross it, you continue through the pine forest always following indications for * CASONI*through the pine forest always following indications for * CASONI*Cross it, you continue through the pine forest always following indications for * CASONI*view trek “💪
Keep climbing while keeping your left .
When you reach Casoni, the trail becomes completely flat. You will see a cowshed on your left. From here, follow the signs for “Belvedere” and continue straight ahead until you leave the pine forest and enter a large open meadow.

Monte Belvedere will be directly in front of you. The path runs through a narrow line of pine trees and climbs towards the top of the mountain.
Once you reach the summit, continue to the right to arrive at the panoramic viewpoint, where you can enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and countryside.

Returning to the Cuccaro Club...
From the viewpoint, you have two options:
* Continue straight ahead, walk down the mountain and rejoin the path through the forest.
* Alternatively, once you have descended the mountain, take the paved road. Keep turning left and follow the signs towards “Rocchetta di Vara” to return to the Cuccaro Club.
When you are on the road above the hotel and can see the Cuccaro Club below you, look for a small clearing on the left-hand side of the road. This is where Cinghy, our friendly wild boar, lives.
Call her loudly: “Cinghy!” She will happily come over to say hello!
Enjoy your walk and have a wonderful day exploring one of the most peaceful and kid-friendly hiking trails near Cinque Terre!
